WHS Swimmers Take 3rd at State Meet

91ԭ finished third behind Skyline and Newport.

The Panthers broke school records in the 400 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 fly, 200 free, 500 free and 200 medley relay.

Wierzbicki won the 100 fly race with a time of 55.42, narrowly edging Mount Vernon’s Emma Carlton. With the time achieved, Wierzbicki was automatically awarded All-American status.

Senior Panthers diver Ali Brandt finished second and Eastmont’s Ali Pierce took third.

91ԭ took third in the 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and the 400 free relay.

It was a really great meet,” 91ԭ coach James Elwyn said. “We swam out of our heads and competed. We put ourselves in a place to stay competitive and we did just that.”

Highlights: 91ԭ — 200 medley relay (Kayli Elwyn, Isabelle Dressel, Jessica Wierzbicki, Victoria Peterson, 1:48.50, 3rd), 200 free relay (Dressel, Kayli Brown, Hartley, Peterson, 1:39.68, 3rd), Wierzbicki (100 fly, 54.42, 1st; 100 back, :58.17, 3rd), Hartley (200 free, 1:55.44, 8th), Elwyn (200 IM, 2:17.35, 16th), Dressel (50 free, 25.12, 9th; 100 breast, 1:05.88, 6th), Audrey Parrish (50 free, 25.47, 16th; 100 free, 55.30, 11th), Ali Brandt (1m dive, 399.85, 2nd), Aleah Bucknum (1m diving, 306.15, 11th), Peterson (100 free, 55.70) Eastmont — Ali Pierce (365.20, 3rd).
