Students Cover Graffiti Across from WHS

The WHS Art Club paints a fence white across from the school.

Students made quick work of painting the vandalized fence on Friday, December 8th.

Last week, members of the WHS Art Club banded together to cover graffiti on a homeowners fence across from the school on Miller Street. The process took less time than organizers expected, with many students coming forward to make their school and community a better place. This is the latest effort by the Art Club in their quest to beautify the parts of the community.

The students were joined by art department head Steve Priest and School Resource Officer (SRO) Corey Fuller and used paint generously donated by Sherwin Williams. “What I’ve learned over the years is [that] covering it immediately is the best way to battle it,” said Priest of the vandalism.

The Art Club is exploring the possibility of adding a mural to the fence this spring. While the project is not currently confirmed, both the homeowners and club have expressed their eagerness to make it a reality. In a Facebook comment, the homeowners thanked the students for their hard work, saying that they “look forward to the possibility of a mural.”

A huge thank you to the Art Club and their supporters on this project: SRO Corey Fuller, Sherwin Williams, and WHS Administration. 91ԭ High School is proud to have students so committed to spreading kindness in our school and community.
