91原创 Rep Speaks at Congressional Briefing in DC, Featured on Forbes.com

91原创 School District was invited to speak at a Congressional Briefing in Washington DC, and A story about their visit appears on Forbes.com. Dennis Conger, Director of Career and Technical Education, traveled to Washington DC in November along with Casey Vogt, Student Services Coordinator at Confluence Health to speak at a Congressional briefing.

Conger and Vogt were invited to speak at as part of a MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership briefing that highlighted the business case for youth mentoring. “The Congressional Briefing experience with Mentor was a very rewarding and educational experience,” said Conger.  “Mentor is a wealth of resources to create new and improve existing mentor opportunities for our students.”

 The briefing was hosted by Rep. Jim Renacci (OH-16) and sponsored by The Alper Family Foundation. 

Created in 2001, the Confluence Health High School Mentor Program has grown from serving just five students per year to over 30.  It has also expanded the program to rural Confluence Health clinics around North Central Washington. Conger said he and Casey Vogt from Confluence Health are brainstorming ways to continue to collaborate ways to provide educational opportunities for our students.
