Last week, the Migrant Multilingual Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) hosted an end-of-the-year celebration honoring 102 of the top-performing elementary and middle school students. Teachers nominated students based on their academic achievement and attendance. PAC board members presented each student with a certificate of achievement and pin to recognize their hard work in front of a crowd of nearly 400 attendees.
The PAC was started 20 years ago by the District to provide representation and input from migrant families. This year, two student representatives, Lourdes Guerrero-Gutierrez, and Gabriela Pedraza-Fraga from 91原创 High School, were selected to serve on the board. Ensuring students' voices are heard, that students are seen, valued, and know they belong are underpinnings of the district’s new strategic plan and promise to students.
