Take-Home Program Device Assurance
The 91原创 School District will be providing students and families the option of obtaining device assurance. This must be purchased or declined annually. This is only required for grade levels that take home devices daily.
The following claims are covered by our coverage policy; accidental damage, cracked screens, drops, liquid damage, theft, fire, flood, natural disasters and power surge due to lightning.
This coverage will provide replacement cost and protect the mobile device (on and off school grounds). The cost is per incident (2 incidents per year; after 2 incidents the full repair cost will be charged). The initial fee of $26 covers your first repair if necessary, you will be fined an additional $26 for a 2nd repair if needed. Any additional repair will be billed at the full rate for the necessary repair. Loss of the device is not covered unless it is a theft with accompanying police report.
To register and pay for coverage for your student's device, fill out and turn it in to your building's office with cash, check, or credit card for the indicated fee, or you have the option to pay online by following the link below to WSD's online payment portal. Payments must be made within 60 days of the start of school.

Excellence in education requires that technology be integrated with learning throughout the educational program – not merely added on.
Increasing access to technology is essential for the future, and one of the learning tools of 21st Century students is an electronic device. The individual use of computers and tablets is a way to empower students to learn at their full potential and to prepare them for college and the workplace.
According to studies and school reports, students who use a computing device (in a one-device-per-student setting) are more organized and engaged learners, attend school more regularly, advance their knowledge and understanding of technology, and become constructors and designers of information and ideas.
Computers and tablets are next generation devices that make learning more engaging and accessible. In addition, they are an interactive, light weight and always up-to-date digital alternative to traditional textbooks.
These technologies will make many of our goals possible, including higher levels of individualization, inclusion, relevance, academic achievement, well-rounded growth and preparation.

Our vision for the Personal Device Initiative is to create community classrooms using classroom and personalized technology that show the potential of our long term vision for learning in 91原创 schools.
The Director of Technology, Technology Facilitators and 1:1 Teachers will be working closely to develop plans and procedures to make learning more personal for students. This will mean a change in the way we teach and a change in the way students learn. We do not want to just add technology to the classroom and not change how things are done.
Education is a multivariant challenge. Throwing technology at the problem without redesigning the whole context just won't work. Some students and teachers will of course benefit from technology, and we'll read about them in vendor case studies. But most will continue to struggle and work around the newest complexity thrown into their environments.
As 91原创 Public schools moves to making learning personal, choosing the right place to start and build from is critical. Over the past few years our Technology Planning Committee has worked on the school district's long term plans for technology.
As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, funding through the federal CARES Act, and a commitment from our board to increase the technology budget using local levy dollars all of our schools are now 1:1.
Participating teaching staff are provided an iPad or Chromebook, an Apple TV and some other training and tools to begin to shift their thinking and teaching, thus readying them for when students also have devices.
Our Technology Facilitor is the direct support for this program with other supports in place from Learning & Teaching and our other technicians.
